Example plan
Infrastructure works site plan example: staging linear works in phases
Roads, pipelines and utility works move along a corridor, so the site plan has to change as the work moves. This example shows how to stage infrastructure works in EasySiteSI.
What makes infrastructure works different
Instead of one fixed site, infrastructure works often run along a road, rail corridor or easement. The work area, access points and laydown shift from stage to stage, and the site compound may sit some distance away. A good plan shows each stage clearly and keeps the compound, access and exclusion zones consistent.
Step by step
- Calibrate to the map. Line up your drawing on satellite imagery, or draw straight onto the map along the corridor.
- Draw the work area boundary. Mark the full extent of the works, then the area for the first stage.
- Set up the compound. Place site sheds, toilets, water tanks, parking and storage containers in the compound.
- Plant and equipment. Add excavators, mobile cranes and other plant at true size from the SITE OBJECTS library.
- Access and routes. Draw delivery routes and access points into each work area, plus pedestrian routes past the works.
- Exclusion zones. Mark exclusion and safety zones around excavations, plant and overhead power.
- Phases. Copy the layout into a new phase for each stage and move the work area, fencing and laydown along the corridor.
- Export. Print a PDF for each phase so everyone can see what changes and when.
Tips
- Keep the compound in the same place across phases where you can, so only the work zone moves.
- Use callouts to note stage dates and key constraints.
- Traffic arrangements on public roads still need the relevant authority’s approval and specialist design.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I show staged infrastructure works on one plan?
Use phases. Build the first stage, then copy it into a new phase for each later stage and move the work area, fencing and laydown along the corridor. Export a PDF for each phase.
Can I plan works along a road or corridor without a drawing?
Yes. You can draw directly on the live satellite map at true scale, then add SITE OBJECTS and routes.
Does EasySiteSI design traffic arrangements for public roads?
No. It helps you lay out the works area, compound and access. Arrangements on public roads need specialist design and approval from the relevant authority.
Where can I see a whole plan being built?
Watch the full build video on YouTube. It builds a complete plan in 10 steps, from calibration to export.
